Terms of Service - Plain English Rules

Last Updated: October 21, 2024

1. The Basic Agreement

By using Font Generator (this website, fontgeneratoronline.org), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the site. That's it. We're not trying to trick you—these terms exist to protect both of us and set clear expectations about what this Unicode font tool does and doesn't do.

2. What You Can Do With Generated Fonts

You can use the Unicode fonts you generate here for anything: Personal projects (Instagram bios, Discord names, TikTok profiles, Twitter posts, etc.), Commercial projects (client work, business branding, marketing materials, product designs), Free or paid products (books, merch, websites, apps). No attribution required. No licensing fees. No restrictions. The fonts are Unicode characters—they're part of the universal text standard, not proprietary assets. We don't own them, and neither do you. You're just using a tool to access them.

3. What You Can't Do

Don't be a jerk. Specifically: Don't claim you created Font Generator or the Unicode standard. Don't scrape our site to build a competing font generator (just fork our open-source code instead—it's on GitHub). Don't use the tool for illegal purposes (spam, harassment, phishing, etc.). We're not the Unicode police, but if you use our tool to harass people, that's on you. Don't try to hack, break, or abuse the service. If you find a vulnerability, report it to [email protected] instead of exploiting it.

4. Platform Compatibility & Limitations

Here's the reality: Unicode fonts work almost everywhere, but not 100% everywhere. Some platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Discord, Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp) support most Unicode fonts. Others might strip certain characters or display them as boxes. We test fonts on major platforms, but we can't guarantee every Unicode character works on every app, device, or browser. If a font doesn't work where you need it, try a different style. We're not responsible if Instagram changes their Unicode support or if your Android phone doesn't render a specific character. That's between you and the platform/device manufacturer.

5. Service Availability & Changes

We run Font Generator as a free service. We try to keep it online 24/7, but we don't guarantee 100% uptime. Servers crash, hosting providers have outages, and we occasionally need to do maintenance. We might add new fonts, remove broken ones, or change how the site works. We'll try not to break your workflow, but we reserve the right to update the tool without notice. If we ever shut down Font Generator (unlikely, but possible), we'll give at least 30 days' notice and open-source the entire codebase so someone else can run it.

6. Liability & Disclaimers (The Legal Stuff)

Font Generator is provided 'as is' without warranties. We don't guarantee it'll work perfectly, never break, or meet your specific needs. We're not liable for: Lost data (your browser's localStorage can be cleared—back up important text elsewhere), Business losses (if you rely on Font Generator for client work and it goes down, that's your risk), Platform bans (if Instagram bans you for using Unicode fonts, we're not responsible—check their ToS), Compatibility issues (some fonts don't work on some platforms—test before committing). Maximum liability: If we somehow owe you money, it's capped at $0 (because you paid $0 to use this).

7. User-Generated Content & Responsibility

We don't see, store, or moderate what you type into Font Generator. Your text stays in your browser. That means: We're not responsible for offensive, illegal, or harmful text you create. If you generate a Unicode font for harassment, spam, or illegal activity, that's your legal problem, not ours. We can't remove or censor your text because we never see it in the first place. If someone reports abusive content created with our tool, we'll cooperate with legal authorities, but we have no logs of what you generated.

8. Intellectual Property

Font Generator's code, design, and branding are ours (open-source license on GitHub). The Unicode characters themselves belong to the Unicode Consortium—we're just providing a convenient way to access them. You can't trademark, copyright, or claim ownership of Unicode characters. If you create a logo using our bold Unicode font, you own the logo design, but you don't own the Unicode characters themselves.

9. Third-Party Links & Services

We might link to external resources (Unicode documentation, platform guides, related tools). We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, privacy policies, or availability. Clicking external links is your choice—read their terms before using their services.

10. Changes to These Terms

We can update these terms anytime. If we make major changes (like adding fees or changing usage rights), we'll announce it prominently on the homepage. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms. Check the 'Last Updated' date at the top to see when we last modified this.

11. Governing Law & Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. If we end up in a legal dispute (hopefully never), we'll try to resolve it informally first. If that fails, disputes go to arbitration or small claims court. We're not interested in lawsuits—we'd rather fix problems and move on.

12. Questions or Concerns?

If anything here is confusing or you need clarification, email us: [email protected]. We'll respond within 48 hours. For legal/security issues: [email protected].
